SCONE BYPASS TO BE OPEN BY EASTER

The long-awaited Scone bypass is ahead of schedule, and due to be open to motorists by the Easter long weekend.

The three bridges are now complete, with the final asphalt being laid to connect it with the New England Highway.

“About 56% of the vehicles will be out of the main street which would sort of improve the amenaties of the street, we’ll be able to do some works to beautify the street we want it to be the showpiece of the Upper Hunter.”

Once construction of the $137-million bypass is finished, Upper Hunter council will begin work on a $5-million town beautification project.
