SIX CHARGED OVER $17 MILLION CANNABIS OPERATION
Six people have been charged after $17 million worth of cannabis was seized from a rural property near Grafton.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Harthouse have been investigating the cultivation of cannabis across NSW, since November 2019.
Their investigation uncovered 13 large industrial grow houses at a property at Kremnos.
Inside they found over 5000 cannabis plants, with an estimated potential street value of $15.6 million were seized, as well as 200kg of cannabis head, with an estimated potential street value of $1.4 million.
Five men aged 25, 41, 45, 48 and 53 were arrested as well as a 46-year-old woman.
The group were taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with cultivate prohibited plant (large commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
They were all refused bail and will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court later today.
Investigators are working with the Department of Home Affairs in relation to the visa status of the group.
