Hopes are fading in the search for an Argentine tourist, who went missing at a Coffs Coast Beach.
The 22-year-old was swimming with friends at Mullaway Beach when he became caught in a rip.
One of the group tried to rescue him but was unsuccessful.
The man has not been seen since.
A large-scale search was launched just after 5:30pm yesterday and is continuing today.
