LAKE MACQUARIE IN LINE FOR PHONE RECYCLING AWARD

Lake Macquarie Council is in the running to take out a Top Recycler award, for its efforts reducing the number of mobile phones that wind up in landfill.
In the past year, it’s recycled almost 160-kilograms as part of the Mobile Muster program.
“We’re really thrilled to be listed in the top five for the state and we hope that if we can get some more phones recycled by the end of April that we might actually win the award for this year,” said council’s Sustainability Manager Dean Chapman.
Six recycling stations can be found at council’s Boolaroo office and local libraries.
