POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED ARMED ROBBERY

Police are searching for a man who allegedly held up a service station with a firearm in Raymond Terrace last night.

Just after 7pm, a man entered a petrol station on Adelaide Street and approached the counter.

He asked for a pack of cigarettes before allegedly threatening the male staff member with what appeared to be a firearm.

Believed to be aged in his early 20s, the man demanded cash and cigarettes before jumping the counter and attacking the employee who managed to escape from the premises.

The man ran from the store, and fled the scene on bicycle without any cash.

Police arrived soon after, and took a number of items including a paintball pistol in the shape of a firearm, a cap, a bag and a bicycle helmet for forensic tests.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, around 180cm tall, with red hair and a medium build.

It’s believed he was wearing a brown hooded jumper, brown pants and black shoes.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to come forward.
