LOWER DEMAND CLOSES EMERGENCY FODDER SITES IN GRAFTON
Grafton’s emergency fodder distribution point will close to livestock producers tomorrow, due to decreased demand.
Fire affected North Coast producers have accessed fodder at several distribution points over the last few weeks, which were set up by Local Land Services and the Department of Primary Industries to support animal welfare.
North Coast Local Lands Services Manager, Louise Orr, said staff at distribution sites have worked tirelessly to provide support and resources to care for animals in evacuation centres.
“NSW DPI Rural Resilience officers are available to support fire affected primary producers – they are there to listen, learn and link rural communities, families and individuals with the most appropriate services and information,” Ms Orr said.
Eligible farmers and small business impacted by the bushfires can apply for grants of up to $15,000 as part of the federal government’s $48 million disaster relief package.
The money will assist with clean-up and the replacement of infrastructure, including repairing and replacing damaged fences, equipment and machinery.
