POLICE WARN AFTER SPATE OF BREAK AND ENTERS AT SOUTH WEST ROCKS
Police are investigating a number of break and enters at South West Rocks over the past week.
A couple, and their four children, were inside a home on Paragon Avenue, when the 34-year-old mother awoke to a man dressed in dark clothing, armed with a handsaw.
It was just after midnight on Monday, and the man threatened the woman several times before fleeing through a back verandah door.
Detectives from Mid North Coast Police District are also investigating a number of other break and enters at South West Rocks that occured in the past week.
At this stage, police are not linking the incidents.
Mid North Coast Police District Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Kim Fehon said this is a timely reminder for home owners and visitors to ensure their properties are safe and secure.
“The festive season is an opportunistic time for thieves, with families leaving their homes unattended as they head up or down the coast for Christmas.
“Whether you’re packing up to head away from the holidays or you’re a visitor to the Mid North Coast staying in a holiday house or camp site, please make sure all your safety measures are in place.
“Please make sure that homes are locked and secure, that security systems, doors, windows, alarms and lights are properly installed and activated, and keep all valuables out of clear view and bring them inside overnight – that includes surf boards, towels, bikes and eskies,” Det Ch Insp Fehon said.
