A Gold Coast chef who stabbed her puppy after it pulled washing off the line has been banned from owning a dog for five years and fined $2500.
Samarah McKay was sentenced today after pleading guilty to repeatedly stabbing the five month old puppy with a kitchen knife in June.
On Monday the court heard that the woman ‘snapped’, with her lawyer arguing she had been stressed, with her child in hospital and a struggling relationship.
Fortunately the knife missed major organs and the dog is now with another family.
If this lady snapped and did this to a defenceless animal she will do it again maybe next time it will be her children. I think on top of not owning a dog she should be given mandatory counselling and maybe anger management.
It should have been a lifetime ban. I am fed up of people using mental illness or stress as an excuse for abusing animals
