GAV’S WEATHER | HEATWAVE AHEAD, RETURN TO NORMAL WEATHER ON HORIZON

There’s cloud surging over South Australia – a sign that the Indian Ocean Dipole is now weakening, bringing with it hope that we will return to a more normal weather pattern in early 2020. But, the country still has an extreme inland heatwave to get through.
Another large blocking high is moving into the Bight, ensuring the extremely dry weather continues inland, and locally, for the weeks leading up to Christmas. Cooler south-easterly winds will make for more comfortable conditions east of the Divide.
More showers and storms will develop across north-east NSW and south-east QLD, mostly forming around the mountain areas before drifting towards the coast.
