TIGHTER WATER RESTRICTIONS FOR THE LOWER HUNTER
Level two water restrictions will be introduced in the Lower Hunter in January, if dry conditions continue as predicted.
It comes as the region’s dams reach their lowest levels in close to four decades – with storage slightly under 58% capacity.
It’s expected the restrictions will be introduced on January 20, meaning residents can only outdoor water every second day for 15 minutes, have four minute showers and wash cars and buildings with a bucket.
This is the first time the region has faced level two restrictions since the 1980s drought.
