MAN CHARGED WITH INTENTIONALLY CAUSING A FIRE NEAR KURRI KURRI

A 32-year-old man has been charged with intentionally causing a fire in the Hunter Valley on Friday.
Police say they spotted a Ford Falcon ute, reported to have been stolen from Freemans Waterhole, being driven along John Renshaw Drive in a dangerous manner on Friday morning.
Attempts to pull over the ute were unsuccessful, with the vehicle later located well alight on a property at Buchanan.
Local RFS volunteers extinguished the blaze, along with a small grass fire, with the driver arrested nearby.
He was taken to Maitland Hospital for treatment for a leg injury, before being taken to Cessnock Police Station, where he was charged with a string of offences including damaging property by fire.
He will front court later today.
