NEWCASTLE MAN CHARGED OVER THREATENING FAMILY WITH A GUN
A man is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court today after allegedly threatening a family with a firearm on Sunday.
It’s alleged the 31-year-old from Fletcher went to a home in Shelly Street, Toronto, just before 9 o’clock on Sunday morning.
He allegedly threatened several people inside with a handgun, and left.
Three adults and two young boys, were left shaken, but uninjured.
Police then launched an investigation, searching a home in Redwood Close, Fletcher, where they found a stolen vehicle, clothes, firearm parts, a taser and weapons.
Officers went back to the home with the Dog Squad just after 5pm to arrest the man, who was allegedly armed with a bayonet.
He was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with several offences, including special aggravated break and enter with intent whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and stealing a motor vehicle.
