OFFICER STABBED, TEENAGER CHARGED WITH ARMED ROBBERY
A teenage boy will front a children’s court after allegedly stabbing a police officer at Lake Macquarie on Saturday.
Police were patrolling Nita Street just after 5am when they found a Subaru station wagon, believed to have been stolen at knifepoint, earlier that morning.
The 15-year-old allegedly drove off in the car and a pursuit was initiated.
Police say the young driver crashed through a Straight Drive fence and into a footbridge bollard, before running from the car.
The boy was tackled to the ground by police and during the struggle, an officer was allegedly stabbed in the arm.
The teenager was taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with several offences including armed robbery and assaulting police.
The senior constable was treated for the wound at Belmont Hospital.
