CENTRAL COAST WATER PROTECTION BILL VOTED DOWN

A Greens bill to prevent mining impacting on Central Coast drinking water, has been voted down in the state’s upper house.
The legislation had sought to cancel any licences already granted in the catchment, among other measures.
The decision comes after residents rallied on Macquarie Street this morning, calling for the Wallarah 2 coal mine to be stopped.
The project has received conditional state and federal approvals.
