MAN EXTRADITED OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A YOUNG BOY
A man has been extradited from Queensland to New South Wales, to face court for allegedly sexually assaulting a young boy in the Hunter.
Police first received reports in September that a 12-year-old had been sexually assaulted by a man who was known to him.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at a home at Tinara on Monday this week.
An extradition request was granted and the man was escorted by detectives on a flight to Sydney.
He’s been charged with intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16 years of age and having sexual intercourse with a child between 10 and 14 years of age.
Police will allege in court the man sexually assaulted the boy – then aged 11 – on two occasions in December 2018.
He was refused bail.
