WATER INQUIRY DROPS INTO TAMWORTH

The topic of rising water costs was front and centre in Tamworth today, as an Upper House Committee dropped into town to chat to farmers and irrigators.
The committee is trying to rectify water pricing differences across the region.
Currently, farmers in the Peel catchment pay close to 55 dollars per megalitre.
“Where the costs are eight times what their collegues in other catchments are paying, that is a structural problem that needs to be addressed.”
The committee will sit down with IPART next month to discuss its recommendations.
