A man has been charged with lighting a massive bushfire near Ebor in the state’s Northern Tablelands.
More than 3,000 hectares has been scorched and the nearby town is still under threat.
A 51-year-old man was refused bail.
Police allege he was trying to backburn on his property, to protect a cannabis crop and made no attempt to control the blaze.
He’ll face Armidale Local Court again on Monday.
