MAN EXTRADITED FROM TASMANIA OVER ALLEGED CHILD ABUSE

A man will front court to answer alleged child sex offences committed in the Hunter region almost a decade ago.
The 48-year-old was arrested at Georgetown Police Station in Tasmania on Tuesday as a result of an investigation that commenced in 2013.
He was extradited to Newcastle yesterday, where he was charged with five counts of sexual intercourse with a child between 10 and 14.
Police allege the man sexually assaulted a young girl, who was known to him, on numerous occasions between 2009 and 2012.
