30 years ago today, a 14-year-old girl attended a birthday party at Stockton Beach near Newcastle.
There, she was sexually assaulted, beaten and left to die.
It was a crime that shocked not just the Newcastle community, but all of Australia – and highlighted flaws in our criminal justice system.
