MAN CHARGED AFTER MAILBOX BLOWN UP AT HAMILTON NORTH
A 35-year-old man has been charged after a letterbox in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton North was destroyed with explosives last month.
Police arrested the man at an address on Macquarie Street at Belmont, following investigations into the October 15 incident, in which a letterbox on Boreas Road was blown up.
The arrest followed a series of raids on residential and commercial properties in the region, with a number of firearms, prohibited weapons and items used to manufacture explosive devices located.
The 35-year-old was charged with multiple offences including the possession of multiple firearms.
A 19-year-old woman was also arrested.
She’s since been released pending further investigations.
