Work on the new Karuah Police Station has begun, around a year after the project was announced.
Senior police and politicians broke ground on the million-dollar facility early this morning.
Once the site is ready, a pre-fabricated station will be trucked in and assembled.
“This is going to be the first modular station of its type, within New South Wales policing. Having local police in local communities is great news for Port Stephens.”
The new station is due to open by Christmas.
