DRAKE FIRE OUT BUT RFS WARNS THE WORST IS YET TO COME
Far north coast firefighters have been given a well-earned break, after a torturous few months.
The RFS declared the deadly Long Gully Road fire officially out yesterday.
The rest period could be short-lived however, with conditions set to again deteriorate.
“Almost the norm now to be continuing with fires a bad cycle of weather just keeps coming around with more dry thunderstorms and more lightning, more wind, it’s just harder to contain the fires. The extended drought season is just making every bit of vegetation so easily burnt as well.”
The nearby Busbys Flat fire continues to burn, but it’s listed as ‘under control.’
