It’s still firing for now but Lake Macquarie’s coal-fired power station has just had its life expectancy cut by seven years.
Origin Energy bringing forward the closure of it’s Eraring plant to 2025.
It’s been a key part of our energy grid since the early 80s – but today came news Australia’s biggest coal-fired power station will close early.
Origin will flick the switch at its Eraring plant at Lake Macquarie in 2025 – a decision blamed on the shift to cleaner, greener sources… and one that’s sparked concern about supply and prices.
