HSU CALLS FOR CHANGE AFTER HOSPITAL SHOOTING

Staff at Lismore Base Hospital say they’re frustrated with a lack of action from management after a man in custody was shot outside the Emergency Department almost a month ago.
The Health Services Union is calling for stronger protocols for prisoner movements in and around the hospital precinct.
“It’s quite disturbing that here we have a very serious situation, third shooting in the state in three years and the management of Lismore Hospital is saying well we’ll get around to it later on.”
The local health district says it’s committed to providing a safe workplace for staff.
