SMOKE SETTLING OVER FORSTER FROM NEARBY BUSHFIRE

Firefighters are starting to gain the upper-hand on a large bushfire burning near Forster on the Mid North Coast.
The blaze has already scorched around 2,000 hectares of Minimbah National Park, with the fire currently burning to the north of Coolongolook River.
A number of isolated properties came under threat on Saturday afternoon, with the RFS upgrading the blaze to a ‘Watch & Act’ warning level.
It was downgraded later that day, with crews now focusing on strengthening containment lines.
There remains no threat to homes, however smoke is visible across surrounding suburbs, including Nabiac and Tuncurry.
