Residents along Pinkett Road should seek shelter as the fire front passes, with aircraft working to assist ground crews to contain the fire.
A ‘Watch & Act’ warning is also in place near Tuncurry on the Mid North Coast, where flames have crossed the Coolongoolook River.
Strong easterly winds are pushing embers from the fire towards Wallingat, Shallow Bay and Coomba Park.
Firefighters are also working to contain an out of control fire burning south west of Tenterfield.
