KOALA FUNERAL STAGED PRIOR TO PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY

Ballina’s home to one of the state’s largest koala populations and today, protesters held a “wake” for the creatures outside the town’s RSL.

They claim koalas are being driven to extinction through habitat destruction and urban development.

“The North Coast is their only remaining strong hold, they’re long term survival depends on us.”

The memorial coincided with the second day of a parliamentary inquiry, examining the challenges faced by the species.
