Shortland Esplanade is set to become entirely one-way.
Councillors are expected to endorse plans for one-way traffic, between Zaara and Watt streets, at next week’s meeting.
It’s part of the city’s Bather’s Way project, which stretches from Nobbys through to Merewether.
Work is already underway to rebuild retaining walls along the popular coastal stretch.
