THREE EMERGENCY WARNINGS IN PLACE AS FLAMES THREATEN HOMES
TENTERFIELD
Tenterfield is again in the firing line this afternoon, with an out of control bushfire headed towards homes on the town’s western side.
The blaze is burning in the vicinity of Kildare Road, with strong winds fanning the fire in an easterly direction.
BUSBYS FLAT
There’s also an emergency warning in place for a bushfire burning in remote bushland near Busbys Flat, south west of Casino.
Strong westerly winds are fanning flames, which have crossed Old Tenterfield Road at around 1 o’clock this afternoon.
Residents at Wyan and Wineshanty are advised it is now too late to leave.
Locals at Myrtle Creek and Rappville should take shelter as the fire arrives.
Coupled with warm windows, the conditions are conducive to spot fires forming well ahead of the main fire front.
According to the RFS, the blaze has already scorched around 1100 hectares.
The Summerland Way south of Casino is closed in both directions.
DRAKE
A third emergency warning has been issued for a bushfire burning near Drake.
The Long Gully Road fire has been burning for a number of weeks, this afternoon breaking containment lines in strong winds.
It’s now crossed Ewingar Creek and is heading east towards Ridge Road at North Ewingar Rd and Grandview Road.
