HEFTY FINE FOR DRIVER CAUGHT SPEEDING ON NEW ENGLAND HIGHWAY
A Morisset man is out of pocket almost $2,500 after he was caught travelling at 154km/h on the New England Highway over the long weekend.
Officers were patrolling at Belford around 4:30 in the afternoon, when they spotted a Silver Subaru Liberty travelling well in excess of the 100km/h speed limit.
The 19-year-old driver, who only got his P2 licence two-days ago, was stripped of 12 demerit points and fined $2482.
His licence was also suspended for six months, while the vehicle’s registration was cancelled for three.
