EXPANSION APPROVED FOR RIX’S CREEK COAL MINE

Rix’s Creek coal mine near Singleton will operate for at least another 21 years, after the Independent Planning Commission extended its licence.

It’s estimated an additional 25 million tonnes of coal will be produced over that time, generating more than $104 million.

Members of the Singleton community had voiced their opposition to the extension, citing impacts on air quality.
