A teenage girl is recovering in a Sydney hospital after she was left with burns to her face and arms in an explosion at Wallsend overnight.
The 16-year-old was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital after the incident, in which it’s believed a petrol can ignited near an outdoor fire at around midnight.
She was later transferred to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.
Two others were injured in the explosion.
