TENTERFIELD BUSHFIRE DOWNGRADED TO WATCH & ACT

A ‘Watch & Act’ warning remains in place for a bushfire burning near Tenterfield in the state’s north, after the fire earlier today reached an emergency level warning.

The blaze is burning in the vicinity of Leechs Gully… Late this afternoon crossing nearby Washpool Creek Road.
Gusty westerly winds are fanning the flames towards Mount Lindesay Road and the Bruxner Highway.
Firefighters on the ground are being assisted from the air by water bombing aircraft.
Embers are likely to be blown well ahead of the fire front.
