HELICOPTER CALLED IN AFTER MOUNTAIN BIKE CRASH AT MOUNT SUGARLOAF
A man in his 20s has been stretchered from remote bushland west of Newcastle, after he was left unconscious following a mountain bike crash.
Specialist paramedics were winched into the remote location near Mount Sugarloaf at West Wallsend at around 10:30 on Saturday morning, after reports the man had fallen from his bike.
The operation was complicated by dense bushland and the isolated nature of the location, with the decision made to carry the 26-year-old to a waiting ambulance.
He was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition, having suffered suspected head and neck injuries.
