The Bees Nest fire burning west of Dorrigo remains at Watch and Act.
The fire has burnt an estimated 60-thousand hectares of farm and forest land.
Strong westerly winds overnight spread the blaze to the east with several spot fires breaking out ahead of the fire front.
Residents are urged to take precautions and to leave if they’re in doubt.
Motorists using the Waterfall Way between Dorrigo and Armidale are advised to check conditions before travelling.
The RFS says it could take up to a month to contain the blaze.
