A 43-year-old man, who was arrested at Hamilton on Thursday afternoon has been charged by the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team.
The man was taken into custody near the intersection of Cleary and Beaumont Streets at around 5 o’clock in the afternoon, after threats of violence were allegedly posted online.
A mobile phone was also seized, with the arrest forming part of an ongoing investigation into right-wing extremist ideology being espoused online
He faced Newcastle Local Court earlier today, when he was refused bail.
