OWEN WRIGHT LAST REMAINING AUSSIE AT TAHITI PRO

A tough day for Aussie surfers at the famous Teahupo’o break in Tahiti.

Newcastle’s Ryan Callinan was locked in a tense Round of 32 battle with Griffin Colapinto, before the American produced this.

Colapinto’s charge ended at the hands of Brazil’s Gabriel Medina, who scored the day’s only perfect 10.

Julian Wilson fell to South Africa’s Jordy Smith in the Round of 16, but there was better news for Owen Wright, who became the only Australian to advance to the quarter finals.
