THIEVES STEAL COPPER CABLE WORTH $30,000 FROM HUNTER BUSINESS
Police have issued an alert following the theft of a large amount of copper wire in the Hunter.
Thieves entered a business at Thornton on Tuesday night, removing 1.5-tonnes of copper cable, wrapped in black rubber sleeving.
The haul was worth around $30,000.
Police suspect the bandits may try to melt the rubber casing from the cable, and sell the copper as scrap metal.
They’re urging people to be on the lookout for suspicious activity.
