Broadbeach residents are fighting Telstra’s plan to install mobile antennas on top of the Sofitel highrise.
The proposed base station is meant to complement the one currently on the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, which is reaching capacity.
But residents have health concerns.
“Because you’ve got this radiation the whole time, 24/7 and you just can’t get away from it, you’re living with it.”
Telstra says the maximum Electromagnetic Energy Levels will be 625 times below the Australian limit.
