WATER METERING ROADSHOW LAYS DOWN THE NEW RULES IN TAMWORTH

The issue of water was laid bare in Tamworth today, as the State Government’s Water Metering Roadshow checked into the city.

Attendees were informed that over the next five years, non-urban water metering rules will be established – starting with the region’s largest water consumers.

“We developed a framework so that over 95% of licensed water infrastructure will be accurately metered, but with the threshold, so that the smallest water users don’t need to outlay big investment.”

Since April, all newly installed non-urban water meters have been made to be tamper-proof, auditable and accurate.

As of December 1, all surface water pumps measuring more than 500 millimetres will also be required to comply with these regulations.
