SIONE’S ACADEMY GEARS UP FOR ANOTHER MISSION
Newcastle-based charity, Sione’s Academy, has begun preparations for its annual humanitarian trip to Tonga.
The brainchild of former NRL player, Sione Finefeuiaki, this year’s mission is focused on rebuilding a disability centre in the village of Alonga.
“We’re missing a few building products and we’re missing a few tradies as well. We’re after a roofer, an electrician and a carpenter if they’d like to join us”, said academy administrator, Chrys McGlynn.
90 people – including netballers, cricketers, swimmers and coaches – will travel to remote villages and islands as part of the trip, also hosting games and clinics.
“I’m just grateful that I have this amount of support from Newcastle, the whole community here is amazing,” said Sione.
The mission begins in October.
