THREE DAY RAIL CORRIDOR SHUTDOWN STARTS ON TUESDAY
Hunter Valley rail commuters are being advised to plan ahead, with a major shutdown of the network set to get underway on Tuesday to allow for important maintenance work.
More than 1000 workers will be involved in the three-day shutdown, with work to be completed as far west as Ulan, through to Maitland and Thornton.
Track reconditioning will also take place at Kooragang, Hexham and East Maitland.
“The work will generally start at 6.30am on Tuesday 6 August and is expected to be completed about 6.30am on Friday 9 August. A small section between Thornton and Maitland will start earlier from about 2am on Tuesday for track reconditioning work,” said Jonathan Vandervoort, ARTC Group Executive for the Hunter Valley Network.
Buses will replace trains during the shutdown, with work along the corridor to include ballast cleaning, re-railing and track reconditioning.
