CESSNOCK WINS REAL NRL BATTLE OF THE COALFIELDS

Newcastle Rugby League
Round 7

WYONG 46
PORT STEPHENS 10

CESSNOCK 26
KURRI 14

Cessnock has staged a second half fight back to remain undefeated and win the Real NRL’s battle of the coalfields.
As usual, a big crowd turned out for the derby with Kurri but it was the visitors who looked the goods.
Former Knights forward Daniel Abraham smashed Terrance Seu Seu, before George Ndaira scooped up the scraps and handed off to Scott Dunn for the opening try.
The Bulldogs doubled their lead when Dunn worked his way down the right and set up Shannon Tanner.
But the Goannas wouldn’t be outdone on their home ground, as Riley Brown set up Sam Wooden.
Cessnock eventually running out winners 24 – 16.
In today’s other game, Wyong was too strong for the Sharks.
