ROBERT THOMPSON GUNNING FOR MORE WINS IN FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND

He’s getting close to his 60th birthday, but legendary Hunter jockey Robert Thompson isn’t thinking about retirement.
Two weeks after winning his fourth Cairns Cup, Thompson is preparing to return to the city to try and claim his third Cairns Amateur Cup.
“Actually the horse I’m riding is the horse I beat in the Cairns Cup. My horse isn’t running and I was lucky enough to get on the horse that came second so hopefully he can go one better.”
