TWO COASTIES CROWNED AT STATE GROMMET TILES

Bateau Bay surfer Hughie Vaughan has taken out the state Grommet Titles at Maroubra Beach in the Under 14 Boys division.

The reigning Australian Junior Champion hit his stride in the final, laying down a mix of mammoth snaps to finish the heat with a massive two wave total of 16-point-16.

While in the girls Under 14s – Shelly Beach’s Amelie Lowrie nailed a series of waves clinch the title.

The pair will head to the national junior titles in Western Australian later this year.
