JELLURGAL ABORIGINAL CENTRE SET TO ADD CULTURE TO BURLEIGH HEADLAND

Visitors to Burleigh Headland, can expect to see a greater Aboriginal presence come December.
That’s when the Gold Coast’s first dedicated Aboriginal Tourism and Cultural Centre will open its doors.
Jellurgal, at the foot of the mountain, will feature displays, daily tours, a library and cafe.
“The Gold Coast has this common misconception that it’s all about Schoolies Week and Indy and theme parks and these things are fabulous, but Aboriginal people have been making annual pilgrimages to this area for thousands and thousands of years.”
The centre will open in time for the Christmas holidays.
