BIG SWELL EXPECTED TO POUND THE NORTH COAST

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a hazardous surf warning for the Byron, Coffs and Macquarie coasts.
Treacherous conditions are expected at most beaches and rock platforms along the northern New South Wales coast, with a large easterly swell and strong winds predicted.
Police Marine Area Command is urging people to avoid rock fishing, swim only at patrolled beaches and boaters to check the Bureau of Meteorology forecast before heading out on the water.
“At this time of year, only 12 beaches are patrolled in New South Wales,” said Surf Life Saving CEO Steven Pearce.
