Former NRL star, Jarryd Hayne has returned to court in Newcastle, charged with sexually assaulting a woman in the Hunter last year.
The 31-year-old sat silently as his matter was mentioned briefly. His solicitor, Leo Premutico told the court, Hayne’s matter will be ready for committal on the next occasion, and sought an adjournment of one week.
Hayne faced court on the two charges of aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm – relating to an alleged incident on the night of the NRL grand final in September last year, involving a 26-year-old girl in Newcastle.
Hayne remains on bail and will return to court on 3 July.
