Residents at a Merewether home were forced to detain a man on Friday, after he was caught trying to break in to a property on Frederick Street.
The 38-year-old was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with three offences including break and enter, with intent to steal.
It’s alleged the Wallsend man, who is currently on parole, had forced his way into the home around 2 o’clock on Friday afternoon, only to be disturbed by a resident.
He’s due back in court later today.
