A veteran of the open ocean received a warm welcome on Friday, with HMAS Newcastle coming into Sydney Harbour at the end of her final voyage.
After 26 years of service, the Australian-built guided missile frigate will soon be de-commissioned.
Among the ship’s many missions were six deployments to the Middle East, combating arms and drug smuggling.
